The LIGHT Paintings, as this series is called, are all spontaneous
watercolors that develop from spontaneous washes. The washes involve
very wet Arches 140 – 300 lb. cold press paper and wet-on-wet painting
techniques. Tilting and alternately blotting the paper, along with the
additions of rubbing alcohol, salt, and other materials and resists create
unique and beautiful washes.
The paper is then left to dry and eventually the course of the painting is
decided. Delicate brush strokes with small amounts of paint define the
features and ensure that the wonderful initial wash is not lost.
Once the goddess is on paper gold and silver inks or gold or silver leaf might
be burnished onto the surface of the paper before the final addition of some
sort of halo, which speaks to the sacred feminine.
