Work on the mural at The National Zoo in Washington, DC began
on July 26, 2003, and was completed on October 22, 2003. This
was preceded by research and visits to both the Indonesian
Embassy and The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History for
reference material and help from experts. The mural is Indonesian
themed and features animals from Sumatra. In all, eighty-two
living creatures are featured in the mural.
